Thank you for the feedback and sorry for the trouble this might have caused. As I did not do this in a fresh install, there might be some missing libraries. I added the ones that were missing, it should now be Ok.

And weird... I never needed to use --with-gui, it always compiled Riecoin-Qt directly. I will try to make sure that the instructions are reproducible with a fresh install and make some more HowTos this weekend. I might also try to compile in WSL Debian 9, but I would need a lot of patience for that.

src/qt/riecoin-qt exists but running it does not show anything - no error, no qt window.
riecoind -version shows: v0.16.3-(something)
riecoind: segmentation fault(core dumped)

Any ideas where I can get better error messages to help diagnosing? Thanks!
Ahoy, Izknv
First, make clean; make
Sometimes in c++ when you change header files, objects are not precompiled and mess binary is produced

Coupe of commands that will help in debugging please show and the output here:
ldd riecoind
Will show which libraries are used during the linking process
cat ~/.riecoin16/debug.log
openssl version
strace -f -o out.log riecoind
Will create file and can show where crashing. Maybe will have to install strace (apt-get install strace). The output can be big so copy/paste will not be practical I guess. Check in the log which libssl and libcrypto it open and if they are the right one, last 50-100 lines could show and why it crash.

Also if you can post output of configure script and output of make.

I will be very thankful if can help me debug this problem as pttn reported same issue, and in my environments I'm unable to reproduce it.

I run the node for ~ 20 hours and it finished downloading all blocks. It succeeded in receiving riecoins. However, it failed to make payments. After I sent some riecoins, they appears to be successful but stuck in "0/unconfirmed, in memory pool" forever. The riecoin network seems not confirming this transaction.

BTW - you need to have "addresstype=legacy" in riecoin.conf to avoid segwit. I vote to disable segwit forever +1 to ziiip

This is an already documented issue, read some previous posts. This is due to the 0.16.3 using a different version number in the transaction, that is rejected and not relayed by 0.10.2. For now, you have to add the IGJ's 0.16.3 node (78.83.27.28) and wait that someone mines a block using 0.16.3 (and I am the only one such miner currently: wait a few hours to 2 days to get your transaction confirmed). Every other wallet/miner is rejecting your transaction.

I see, thanks for the explanation. How can I mine using 0.16.3? Maybe add that to the documentation and I will be happy to become the second miner.

The only practical way right now is to use rieMiner for solo mining and connect it to your Riecoin-Qt 0.16.3. Its GitHub project page gives complete explanations, and you should be able to compile and use rieMiner without any trouble.
Also do not forget to add the IGJ's 0.16.3 node (78.83.27.28) to broadcast your transactions to other 0.16.3 wallets (in particular, mine).
If 181a68319919bfcd7e844a557186f88f6252a33e7ae661fbdd435af50cac3be4 is your transaction ID, we can confirm that you broadcasted it successfully to me.
With you, I will not feel alone anymore :p. I just hope that you have (a) powerful CPU(s). it is good that people are starting using 0.16.3 and mining with it.

There is another public 0.16.3 node 202.100.25.156 here, I wonder who is this person.

I will do a full, detailed, Getting Started page in my website this week-end.

It's me:)
I also mined three blocks using rieMiner with 0.16.3.

A couple of 0.16.3 transactions recently confirmed by me in 972268. So if one of these was from you lzknv, it went through. And thank you for the one that set a 0.1 RIC fee!

We are approaching 2019, and still no news about official 0.16.3 release, from gatra, nor clo1... It is worrying...
Anyone working on the wallet should now do it knowing that it is for free. I hope that clo1 will be Ok with that, but it is understandable to be demotivated as gatra and dga will likely not fulfill their promises.

I started to mine with 0.16.3 wallet. Any chance to make it already official?
